Johnians mourn board of governors chairman,  Awowole

Old students of St John’s Grammar School, Ile-Ife are mourning the death on April 1, this year of the chairman of the school’s  board of governors, Mr.Segun Awowole.

In a message of condolence to the family by the president of St John’s Old Boys Association, SJOBA, Dr. Festus Oshoba, the association described him as an exemplary leader and committed educationist who contributed immensely to the development of his community.

He said the association will miss his wise counsel and active intervention and support towards re-positioning the school as the foremost Christian institution committed to raising morally upright and brilliant students.

Johnian Segun Awowole, popularly called DeGuv, belonged to the 1975 set and was a former Principal of St John’s Grammar School.

He played significant roles as a member of the association’s  Perimeter Fence Technical and Implementation Committee by attracting funds  and supervising the landmark project.

Burial plans announced by the family disclosed that his remains will be buried on Wednesday April 7, this year following funeral mass at the St John’s the Evangelist Catholic Church, Oke-Atan, Ile-Ife.
